Buy, rent, or renovate a home
built anytime before 1978? |
Many houses and apartments built before
1978 have paint that contains "Lead"!! |
Lead from paint, chips, and dust can pose
serious health hazards if not taken care of
properly! ... especially in children!! |
Federal law requires that all individuals
receive certain information before buying,
renting or renovating pre-1978 housing ... |
1. Landlords will have to disclose any
known information on lead-based paint
hazards before leases take effect. All
leases now include a federal form with
information about lead-based paint. |
2. Sellers will have to disclose known
information on lead-based paint hazards
before selling a house. All contracts will
include a federal form about lead-based
paint in the building. Buyers will have up
to ten days to check for lead hazards. |
3. Renovators will have to give you the
pamphlet shown on the left before starting
any work on any home built before 1978. |
